Sculptra® works with your body to stimulate collagen production lost to aging. Collagen is a key structural component of smooth healthy-looking skin. With aging, the body’s collagen production decreases and you start losing close to 1% of collagen in your body each year. This is when you may notice the formation of fine lines, wrinkles and loss of facial volume which results in loose and saggy skin. Folds at the cheeks, laugh lines and corners of the mouth become more prominent.

It takes between 30-45 minutes depending on the area being treated. A topical numbing cream will be applied to minimise discomfort before the injection process begins. The poly-L-lactic acid filler also contains local anaesthetic which ensures the patient’s comfort.
Sculptra® treatments involve minimal downtime. You may resume normal daily activities immediately after treatment. Avoid sun exposure, UV lamps, and other facial procedures such as laser treatments or chemical peeling until any swelling or redness has completely resolved.
Massage the treated areas with a firm circular motion 3 times daily, for 5 minutes and continue this for the next 5 days.
As with any injectable treatment, mild to moderate swelling, redness and bruising at the injection site can occur immediately after treatment. These side effects generally resolve within 2 to 6 days. Cold compresses or ice packs on the treatment area can improve comfort. Discuss with your doctor any concerns you may have prior to treatment.
Depending on the area treated, at least 2 – 3 sessions, 4 – 6 weeks apart. Our doctors will tailor the sessions to best suit your skin and your desired outcome.
It is a semi-permanent filler composed of polylactic acid which is injected to help correct loss of facial volume due to the aging process. Sculptra® or polylactic acid is a biocompatible, bioabsorbable synthetic polymer which will be absorbed by the body over time.
Sculptra® is US FDA approved.
Sculptra® works by stimulating fibroblasts to create new collagen fibres which occur gradually and subtly. Since it essentially rebuilds the underlying infrastructure of the face through the generation of new collagen, Sculptra® offers results that last much longer than most other injectables. The new collagen layer which is left behind after Sculptra® itself is absorbed by the tissue, may last more than 2 years depending on individuals.
