ULTHERAPY
Ultherapy is a non invasive, non-surgical US FDA-approved treatment that uses focused ultrasound to bypass the skin surface to treat at specific depths of the skin. This energy will trigger a healing response to jumpstart the collagen production, gradually lifting and tightening the skin from within over a few months. There is minimal downtime since there is no skin breakage.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Ultherapy uses high intensity focused ultrasound to target the deep layers of the skin under the fat layer (Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System, or SMAS) to stimulate collagen production and promote skin contraction for lifting and tightening.
In addition, Ultherapy uses real-time ultrasound imaging that allows doctors to determine the layer of tissue for energy delivery. Micro-focused ultrasound energy is then applied to the targeted area, heating up tissues to stimulate the production of collagen. The process stimulates collagen and elastin production, resulting in a facelift effect: firmer, less saggy skin with fewer wrinkles.

WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE LIKE?
Topical numbing cream is applied beforehand HIFU which most patients are able to tolerate. During the procedure, a gel is applied before the transducer is placed over the treatment area. Patients may feel a warm prickly sensation beneath the skin when the ultrasound energy is being delivered into the target tissue.
Treatment takes approximately 60 minutes depending on the treatment area. You are able to resume normal activities, and you can apply makeup if needed. Your skin may appear slightly flushed immediately after the treatment, but any redness should subside within a few hours.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
After one treatment, most patients will see improvement over the next 1-3 months as new collagen forms. However, based on the degree of skin laxity, the response of each patient and each area treated is variable. The effects often last for about a year.
