Skin Rejuvenation

Skin Rejuvenation

Getting through the day takes a toll on our skin, and over time, our skin begins to reflect the everyday stressors of our lives. Signs of sun damage, aging, and common skin concerns such as dullness, acne, and discoloration may occur due to environmental factors, diet, stress and our daily habits. While our body naturally sheds skin cells about once every month to reveal new skin, we may also use the help of other treatments designed to refresh our skin.

Good skin care is essential at any age and healthy habits in your 20s and 30s can strengthen and prepare your skin for the effects of aging down the road.

What Is Skin Rejuvenation?

Skin rejuvenation refers to any cosmetic treatment that renews the surface appearance of the skin.

Rejuvenation treatments are typically for superficial skin concerns such as:

  • Pigmentation Issues
  • Rosacea
  • Scarring
  • Acne
  • Dullness
  • Skin laxity

Although there are many methods to treat various skin issues, the underlying treatment for skin rejuvenation is based on promoting skin renewal, hydration and collagen production, resulting in an improved skin tone and texture

Which rejuvenating treatment is suitable for me?

It is best to get a consultation session with a doctor. During the consultation, our doctors will examine your skin and go over all treatment options that can address your aesthetic concerns and goals.

What are the skin rejuvenation treatments available?

Rejuvenation treatments are non-surgical and non-invasive with only a few requiring mildly invasive techniques, such as injectable treatments. There are many options of rejuvenation treatments but the more common ones include:

Hydrafacial

HydraFacial is a treatment that deep-cleans pores and provides nutrients to the skin for an all-over refreshed and glowing appearance. HydraFacial uses patented technology to cleanse and exfoliate the skin, remove impurities such as oil and dirt, and moisturises by delivering nourishing serums into the skin.

Chemical Peels

A chemical peel is a procedure in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin to allow new, smoother skin to grow. They can be done at different depths from light to deep layers of the skin.

Light-emitting diode (LED) Light Therapy

It is a non-invasive treatment that enters the skin’s layers to improve the skin by stimulating its natural repair process.

Radiofrequency (RF) Treatments

Sylfirm X uses multiple tiny electrodes to deliver uniform electromagnetic field of energy. RF energy is delivered to the skin through the electrodes, with heat generated at 40-60°C. This causes coagulation, protein denaturation, leading to inflammation and contraction to stimulate wound healing response, thus promoting new collagen production. It also helps to reform the structure of vessels in the dermis to accelerate skin regeneration.

  • INDIBA®

INDIBA® therapy is a non-invasive radiofrequency treatment that facilitates the exchange of positive and negative ions in our cells to maintain a balanced state of healthy cells in our body. This helps to improve cell metabolism and increase blood circulation while increasing oxygen levels in tissues and cells. INDIBA® therapy generates internal heat in our body tissue by delivering radiofrequency energy via electrodes applied to the body in a pleasant massaging action.

Laser Treatments

Laser treatments are direct short, concentrated beams of light that target skin layers to treat the different issues of the skin such as skin laxity, uneven skin tone, scarring and enlarged pores. There are essentially 2 different types of laser technology:

1. Ablative laser

These treatments target the outer skin layers, resurfacing the skin to treat deeper wrinkles, sun damaged skin, warts, scars, and other stubborn issues. The downtime for these treatments range from 7 days to 2 weeks, depending on the individual condition as well as the intensity of treatment.

2. Non-ablative laser

This type of treatment targets the layer underneath the skin’s surface, attempting to stimulate collagen production without damaging the skin surface. This treatment is usually for skin discolouration such as melasma, dark spots, freckles and hyperpigmentation. Hence, the downtime will be minimal.

  • Q-switched Nd:YAG laser treatment

The laser treatment penetrates the desired layer of the skin with pigmentation and effectively blasts pigment cells into micro pieces. These pigment cells are then naturally removed by the skin by its natural removal process. At the same time, the laser energy stimulates skin-boosting collagen production and rejuvenates the skin, resulting in better-textured skin, improved pores and reduction in fine lines. By decreasing the number of pigment cells, the dark spots will be removed and there will be an overall brightening effect on the face.

  • Fotona 4D

With two laser wavelengths and 4 treatment steps, Fotona 4D approaches skin lifting and rejuvenation by working on all depths of the skin, working on superficial imperfections to the deeper connective structures of the skin.

Its non-ablative function distributes controlled super long pulse durations of laser energy to the skin to induce deep bulk heating of the dermis, gradually raising temperature in the skin to stimulate collagen production for skin lifting.

Its ablative Erbium laser gently exfoliates the upper most layer of skin. Done at higher intensities, this also improves the appearance of scars.

PicoSure employs a 755 nm Picosecond Alexandrite laser. Its low heat output, combined with the swift pulsing of the laser, generates a photomechanical effect, enabling the delivery of more laser shots to the targeted dermal layer. When combined with its patented proprietary Focus Lens Array, which utilises diffractive lens for skin rejuvenation, it enhances outcomes related to pigmentation, skin texture, and acne scars.

  • Dynamic Pulsed Light (DPL)

DPL treatment is a non-ablative treatment that uses high-intensity pulses of visible light to improve the appearance of the skin. It utilises the Dynamic Toning Technology or D-Light, which incorporates both Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to treat skin conditions such as melasma and dull or tired skin.

Injectables

  • Botulinum toxin

Botulinum Toxin is injected very superficially into the dermis layer of the skin where it causes contraction and tightening of the skin without affecting the muscles of facial expression. In the lower face, the jawline will look more defined and the jowls improved whilst in the upper face, the eyes will look more lifted and less tired. BTX, Xeomin, Dysport are some examples.

Dermal fillers are soft, gel-like substances that are injected under the skin. One of the most common compounds used in dermal fillers is hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a naturally occurring substance found in our skin, and it plays a major role in keeping skin hydrated and volumized. They can address a number of common concerns including smoothing of deep under-eye circles, lifting of cheekbones, and nasolabial folds. Belotero Balance, Sculptra, Restylane, Juvederm Voluma, Ellanse are some examples of dermal fillers.

Skin Booster treatment works on the skin by micro-injecting stabilised hyaluronic acid (HA) below the skin surface. Hyaluronic acid is a gel-like substance produced naturally in the body and helps to balance hydration levels in the skin, by absorbing water. This treatment delivers deep skin hydration to improve skin hydration, skin health, and cell function from within to rejuvenate the skin. Skin boosters in the market include Juvederm Volite, EXOXE Exosomes, Profhilo, Rejuran, Plinest and Teosyal Redensity.
