Hair Loss

Hair loss or Alopecia may present in different ways depending on the cause. You may notice sudden hair loss or gradual thinning of hair over time.

Hair Loss

Like the skin, the scalp may gradually lose the necessary nutrients and hydration that support healthy hair growth. On average, the scalp has 100,000 hairs that cycle through periods of growing, resting, falling out, and regenerating. An adult on average sheds about 100 strands of hair a day which will not cause noticeable thinning of the hair on the scalp because new hair is growing at the same time. But if the hair growth cycle is disrupted, or if a hair follicle is damaged, hair may begin to fall out more quickly than it is regenerated, leading to symptoms such as a receding hairline, hair falling out in patches, or overall thinning.

Our 3-in 1 Approach

Having experienced stressful events like childbirth and cancer treatment, both our doctors decided to develop affordable, non-surgical combination of treatments for hair loss.

Step 1 : Fotona Laser for Hair Restoration

The Fotona Laser offers a range of treatment modes that are minimally-invasive and require no downtime afterwards. This dynamic system utilizes laser energy for safe, predictable, and natural hair restoration results. It is clinically proven to restore natural hair growth in just a few short treatments.

Er:YAG energy is delivered deep beneath the surface of the scalp to the targeted hair follicles. A cellular response is activated within the underlying layers of the scalp. The natural production of collagen is activated, which is effective at replenishing damaged tissue. The regeneration of healthy tissue is also encouraged which effectively repairs and restores damaged hair follicles.

Following treatment, the scalp is replenished with essential nutrients and hydration for reclaiming natural hair growth.

Step 2 : Application of Calecim® Professional stem cell serum

The Calecim® Professional stem cell serum is derived from a patented source of umbilical cord lining, it contains high concentration of proteins, cytokines and growth factors, to improve scalp health and promote hair rejuvenation. The proteins work to strengthen the tissues, while growth factors increase cell turnover, for faster hair growth. The cytokines in the Calecim® serum also help to increase skin cell turnover and improve the condition and general health of the hair.

The Calecim® Professional serum is delivered into the scalp through tiny pores created on the scalp to improve the topical absorption of the serum.  By massaging and increasing blood circulation of the scalp, the serum can penetrate better to the dermal layers thereby inducing hair follicle regeneration.

Step 3 : Miriqa Hair Supplement

In addition to external treatments, the doctors would also recommend the intake of oral supplements to further encourage hair loss/ hair growth, an approach which is consistent with how they tackle pigmentation woes.

Miriqa® Hair is an oral dietary supplement specifically formulated to improve hair health for both men and women suffering from lacklustre hair. Its proprietary blend of 100% drug-free nutraceutical ingredients is clinically-proven to improve hair growth. Anchored by the Tocotrienol Botanical Complex, the formulation also includes a blend of vital nutrients such as Saw Palmetto Berries, Keratin Forte, Tripeptide Collagen, and Biotin that have being clinically proven to improve hair growth, increase hair thickness and reduces hair loss.

While a combination of the above therapies has yielded results for our patients over the course of 3 months, it is important that you speak with a doctor to establish the cause of hair loss and determine if this treatment is suitable for you.

Female Hair Loss

Female pattern baldness, also called androgenetic alopecia, is hair loss that affects women. This pattern differs from men. In men, hair loss starts in the front of the head and recedes to the back until they go bald. Women lose hair from all over their head, starting at their part line. Hair at the temples may also recede.

The good news is, women are less likely to go completely bald, but you may have a lot of thinning throughout your hair. The bad news is, this situation is irreversible: The sooner you get treated, the faster you’ll be able to reduce the loss — and possibly even regrow hair.

Doctors divide female pattern baldness into three types:

  • Type I is a small amount of thinning that starts around your part.
  • Type II involves widening of the part, and increased thinning around it.
  • Type III is thinning throughout, with a see-through area at the top of your scalp.

Up to two-thirds of women experience hair loss after menopause, likely due to hormones. Less than half of women tend to make it past age 65 with a full head of hair.

Common Causes of Hair Loss

  • Genes
  • Hormonal changes
  • Medications and supplements
  • Certain hairstyles and hair treatment
  • Stress
  • Poor diet
  • Medical conditions

Certain signs include:

Overall thinning

Gradual thinning on the top of the head is the most common type of hair loss. It affects both men and women. While men tend to see a receding hairline, women generally notice thinning in the crown area.

Bald spots

They may be circular or patchy. They may resemble coins in size and usually appear on the scalp. Your skin may even feel itchy or painful immediately before the hair falls out.

Handfuls of hair

You may experience very sudden hair loss, particularly after emotional or physical trauma. The hair may come out quickly while you’re washing or combing it, leading to overall thinning.

Full loss

In some medical situations, particularly with medical treatments like chemotherapy, you may notice hair loss suddenly and all over your body at once.
