She found her calling in Family Medicine and went on to attain her graduate diploma in Family Medicine from NUS in 2012. In 2015, the mother of three made the switch to private practice and joined Fusion Medical in 2016. In 2017, Dr Amy received her Graduate Diploma in Family Practice Dermatology (GDip FP Derm) from NUS.
Dr Amy believes in the importance of a holistic approach and empowering patients to improve long-term health. Hence in order to communicate with patients who can range from the young working adults to those in their 60s, Dr Amy will usually enquire of their past history, address their concerns and how the symptoms are affecting them specifically. She will discuss with them their respective health plans which may require time to monitor. This involves patients coming back to see her in order for her to review and come up with their diagnosis.
Dr Amy’s areas of interest include preventive health, women’s health and dermatology. For preventive health, she believes in patient education and appropriate health screening to identify health problems early on so that they are able to take action to keep them from becoming chronic conditions or to reduce complications. For women’s health, she is keen to help patients achieve mental wellness. “Being a woman, I can comprehend the stress that women go through during childbirth, managing young children and being a working mother. It is essential to take a break in order to keep moving forward.”
